Security forces arrested a Brotherhood cell which plotted an August 24 roadside bomb attack at a police force bus in Beheira, the Interior Ministry said in a statement Saturday.

The ministry said the assailants planted a bomb on Hawamdiya-Rashid road, targeting a bus transporting security personnel.

Three policemen were killed in the attack and 18 others injured.

The ministry had information about the cell and managed to arrest five Brotherhood terrorists and seize explosives caches.

The ministry added that the cell was planning to attack a police checkpoint on Gediya-Rashid international coast road.

The ministry pledged to continue pursuing terrorists to realize security and stability in the country.
