Thousands of residents of Meniet Samanoud Village of Aga township in Daqahliya governorate attended a military funeral held for Captain Mohamed Adel el Solieh, 27, who was killed in the Arish blast.

On Thursday, two officers and a soldier were killed and five others injured in a blast in Arish city of North Sinai.

The attack occurred near a school in central Arish when a roadside bomb went off just as an armored vehicle was passing.

Head of Daqahliya Security Directorate Assem Hamza and a number of police commanders also attended the funeral.

During the funeral, Hamza asserted that Egypt is able to confront all criminal and terror acts that target its security and stability.

He also thanked military troops for sacrificing their souls for the sake of the country.
