MP Elhamy Ageena will be referred to the ethics committee after controversial statements that were seen as contemptuous of Egypt's young women. 

Ageena had said that female university students should undergo virginity tests.

MPs have been at loggerheads with Ageena over his call. Many complaints have since been filed to start a probe with the parliamentarian.

The committee will make a decision and inform parliament, said Speaker Ali Abdel Aal on Tuesday, adding "We're waiting for the decision."
