Egyptian parliament

Ahmed Saad Eddin, the secretary general of Egypt's newly-elected parliament, said on Saturday, that all MPs are keen on serving the best interests of the country.

Addressing an orientation session, Saad Eddin said the results of the parliamentary elections have been outstanding for female candidates.

Seventeen women had run in the parliamentary elections, Saad Eddin said, as he paid tribute to the Egyptian women.

It was a 100% transparent vote, he noted, praising the scientific level of all lawmakers.

The general secretariat will offer support for all representatives, Saad Eddin said.

He pointed to a newly established department of technical support, whose task will be to help MPs with research and studies ahead of sessions.
