Manama - BNA
Muharraq Governor Salman bin Isa bin Hindi has condemned Iran's interference in the Kingdom of Bahrain's domestic affairs.
Speaking on behalf of the Muharraq citizens, the Governor described the Iranian officials' statements as a breach of principles of international law and the UN, which are based on respect of countries' sovereignty and independence and no interference in their domestic affairs.
They stressed that Bahrain's internal affairs are a red line that no country must cross.
They expressed resentment over Iran's practices, which, they said, would affect diplomatic relations between the two countries.
They described the Iranian interference as "inappropriate and irresponsible" act that contravened international norms and UN principles which stress respect for countries' sovereignty and independence.
The Muharraq Governor and citizens affirmed their categorical rejection of any form of foreign interference in Bahrain's domestic affairs, noting that they are within the jurisdiction of the Kingdom's leadership and people only.
They expressed full confidence in the Bahraini judicial system and its fairness.
They pointed out that Bahrain, whose people enjoy the highest level of freedom of expression and democracy within HM the King's pioneering reform project, is a role model of a successful state of law and institutions, which, they stressed, requires preserving national gains, security and laws.
They valued highly all Arab and international stances which denounced blatant interference in Bahrain's internal affairs.
