Bahraini Shura Council

The Council of Representatives has today congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister on the 14th anniversary of the National Action Charter.
In a statement today, it extended congratulations to the people of Bahrain, stressing the importance of pursuing nation-building efforts to consolidate state institutions, enforce the rule of the law and promote freedom, justice and human rights. It paid tribute to HM the King for launching the landmark reform project which put Bahrain on the path of democracy, stressing the crucial importance of the National Action Charter which was endorsed by a sweeping 98.4% majority.
The council described the National Action Charter, which earned wide acclaim, as a blueprint for the present and the future, crediting the pioneering reform project for Bahrain's landmark development strides. "The referendum on the National Action Charter represented a defining moment in the history of Bahrain as it heralded wide horizons for responsible freedom in a country based on citizenship, sincere loyalty and genuine belonging to the homeland", it said.
The statement strongly rejected any blatant foreign interference in Bahrain's internal affairs, stressing the Kingdom's determination to combat the scourge of terrorism, consolidate national security and stability and push the development march forward.
