A senior security official in Gharbia governorate denied on Thursday claims that three prisoners escaped from a Mahalla police station after setting fire to blankets and fomenting anarchy inside the jail.
Such reports are baseless, Head of the the Criminal Investigation Department Abdel Latif el Hennawy said.
The security situation is stable in the governorate, Hennawy said.
Gharbia Security Chief Osama Bedeir, meanwhile, underlined that no bombs were found on a railway line in the governorate. (
