Ethiopia's foreign minister Tedros Adhanom asserted Saturday the importance of cooperation between his country, Sudan and Egypt so the Nile River becomes a tool for rapprochement not difference among peoples.

In press statements in Khartoum where a six-party meeting was held on a controversial dam of Ethiopia, Adhanom said cooperation will allow a just use of the Nile water which, he said, does not belong to any country in specific.

Cooperation must be a basis to resolve any differences in the ties between the three countries, said the top diplomat.

He said the meeting discussed issues of the file of cooperation with Egypt and Sudan as regards the Renaissance Dam.

All developments of the file -- including an international committee report released in May 2013 and the declaration of principles signed by the leaders of the three countries -- were tackled, he said.

The meeting also mulled the issue of two consultancy offices which have been assigned with conducting studies on the project dam.

He said his country offered all political pledges to render the talks successful.

A new round of talks will be held on December 27 and 28, he said.
