Criminal investigations department chief in Sharqiyah Major General Refaat Khedr denied news reports which claimed that shots were fired at a police station in the governorate and a conscript was injured as a result.
The news is totally bare of truth, he affirmed.
He, meanwhile, said that a fight broke out between vendors at a market, near a police station and one of them opened fire to intimidate the other.
Security forces intervened and the vendor threw the gun and fled the scene, he added.
He further said that efforts are underway to arrest the fleeing vendor.
