Military spokesman Brigadier General Mohamed Samir said on Tuesday that a non-commissioned officer and eight takfiris were killed in an army crackdown in North Sinai.
Eleven wanted people were arrested during the campaign, the spokesman said.
As many as 17 motorcycles without plates were also seized, he added.
