North Sinai Governor Abdel-Fattah Harhour on Tuesday met with Sinai peacekeeping force commander Denis Thompson.
The governor briefed Thompson on the state's efforts in Sinai and the armed forces efforts to restore stability and confront terrorism.
Residents near border with the Gaza Strip agreed to evacuate the area in exchange for adequate compensation, Harhour said.
He thanked the armed forces for securing Sinai's security and stability, along with the peacekeeping force's role in keeping peace in the area.
