A state of high security alert has been declared in North Sinai with the aim to foil any attack by the Muslim Brotherhood group during celebrations marking the inauguration of the New Suez Canal project on August 6.

A security official said Friday that all vehicles entering the governorate will be searched by policemen deployed at entrance and exit points.

He added that security campaigns have been launched in areas around the Suez Canal to foil any terrorist attacks.
