The official gazette on Sunday published Presidential Decree Number 20 of 2016 to extend the mandate of several elements of the Armed Forces in a combat mission outside the borders to defend the national security of Egypt and the Arab world in the Arabian Gulf, the Red Sea and the Bab al Mandab areas.

The extension is to be for an additional year or until the end of the combat missions whichever closer, the decree said.
