Organization of Islamic Cooperation

Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to the United Nations on Friday evening strongly denounced the savage attacks carried out by the Israeli occupying forces in the occupied Palestinian territories and the measures of collective punishment.
The OIC group called on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities and to condemn the Israeli actions, and stressed the need to move urgently to stop the use of excessive force against civilians.
This came in a letter delivered by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Ma'alami, on behalf of the group, to the President of the Security Council for the current month, Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, in which he condemned the savage attack carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in the occupied Palestinian territories and collective punishment measures against the Palestinian people as a reaction to the disappearance of three Israeli settlers in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The ambassador told reporters after delivering the message that the group demanded that the Security Council assume its responsibilities to stop all violence committed by the Israeli occupation forces and condemn Israeli actions which represent a clear violation of international law, the Geneva Convention Security Council resolutions and international norms and conventions.
