Egyptian Ambassador to Palestine Nasr Eldin Attia underlined that the Palestinian leadership under President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the nomination of former Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Abul Gheit as the Arab League's secretary general succeeding Nabil el Araby whose term will end in June.
In statements to MENA corespondent here, Attia said that Palestine looks forward that its cause returns to be a priority as it is a prominent Arab issue.
The occupied country aspires that Abul Gheit would achieve Arab compatibility and overcome the current regional challenges, Attia underscored.
Attia further reiterated that Palestine appreciates the Egyptian role in the region and especially concerning backing the Palestinian cause.
Concerning the condemnation of the settlement policy by the Arab foreign ministers and demanding the international community to protect the Palestinian people, the Egyptian diplomat slammed the building of settlements in the Palestinian territories, noting that it hinders the Middle East peace process
