Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki asserted Saturday that Palestine would work with the Arab group to present an Arab bill to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in order to set a deadline to end Israeli occupation of Palestine.
This came after an Arab ministerial meeting at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo in which Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was present.
Maliki said that members of UNSC were welcome to give consolations concerning their viewpoints towards the draft resolution.
“But we will not wait forever,” he asserted.
He said if the resolution was passed, Palestine would be able to engage in direct negotiations with Israel to implement UNSC resolutions, but if the bid failed, as expected, Palestine would have to try with other UN entities as well as halting all security coordination with Israel.
He added that the draft resolution was approved today by all members of AL without any objection.
He said that the AL meeting agreed on forming a ministerial delegation to hold contacts with UNSC members to set the scene for the bill at the council.
Jordan, in coordination with Palestine, would present the draft to the UNSC.
