The Palestinian cabinet on Tuesday congratulated Egypt on the inauguration of the New Suez Canal project.

In a statement after today's meeting, the cabinet said Egypt's mega project, dug in less than a year and financed by Egyptians, is a source of pride for the whole Arab nation.

The mega project affirms Egyptian people's and army's insistence to overcome all challenges and restore Egypt's Arab, regional and international role in defense of the Arab nation's issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, the statement added.

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated on Thursday the New Suez Canal in a great celebration attended by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and other world leaders.

The legendary project was financed by investment certificates sold to Egyptians.
