The House of Representatives on Tuesday approved a request from MP Haitham el Hariri to lift his immunity to be allowed to appear before the Alexandria criminal court.

Hariri is facing trial for a case dating back to June 2013. He is accused of "disrupting public order" following clashes between Muslim Brotherhood members and activists from the Tamarod campaign that called for protests against former president Mohamed Morsi.

Hariri said he was not involved in the incidents
