House of Representatives Speaker Ali Abdel Aal shelved a request filed by a lawyer to lift the immunity of lawmaker Ali Abdel Wanees.

During a general session Sunday, the speaker said the parliament’s status rules that a legal petition has to be attached with immunity-lifting requests, which the lawyer did not do.

Abdel Aal said he cannot do anything but to shelve the request because it did not fulfill the status requirements.
