Member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee Hanan Ashrawi underscored the importance of the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in protecting Palestinians in Yarmouk refugee camp in Syria.

Ashrawi was speaking on Wednesday during a meeting with UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krähenbühl in Ramallah to discuss the recent humanitarian efforts at the camp.

Ashrawi called on the UNRWA to ensure a safe passage to help send aid for Palestinian refugees in the Yarmouk refugee camp.
