Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab inspected on Friday El Darb El Ahmar district in downtown Cairo.

Mahlab voiced discontent with the level of cleanliness in the neighborhood, where piles of garbage are placed near a number of historic mosques.

He ordered the municipality head to be fired.

The Cairo governor and the Awqaf minister accompanied the premier on the tour.

During a cabinet meeting later in the day, the PM announced the launch of a campaign to clear El Darb El Ahmar and other neighborhoods.
