Security forces, in coordination with Public Security Department, freed a 6-member family that was earlier kidnapped in Sohag-Red Sea highway in Sohag governorate.

The kidnappers abducted two men, their wives and two kids.

A citizen informed the police after his kidnapped brother called him to tell him that unidentified armed men have kidnapped him and the others.

He also told him that the kidnappers want 500,000 pounds as a ransom to free them.

The police forces detected the position of the kidnappers via the phone call. They attacked the place and freed the kidnapped.

The perpetrators escaped the scene during the crackdown.

A probe was launched into the incident while a manhunt was held to bring the defendants to court.
