A police captain was killed in Beni Suef, Upper Egypt, when unidentified persons on a motorbike opened fire at him at dawn.

Interior Minister Magdi Abdel Ghaffar ordered that intensified measures be taken to arrest the killers.

In a statement, the Interior Ministry mourned the death of Captain Mohamed Sorour and stressed it would continue efforts to chase and arrest the suspects.

Policemen are adamant to eradicate terrorism regardless of the challenges and sacrifices, the statement said.
