A policeman was killed while an other was injured during a security campaign launched in Qena to arrest a dangerous felon.
The policeman received a fatal wound when the lawbreaker sparked fire exchange.
The killer, wanted over armed robbery and abduction, succeeded to escape the forces, read a statement by the Interior Ministry.
Police beefed up measures to arrest him, the statement added.
