Cairo - MENA
Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese praised his predecessor late Pope Shenouda III, saying the late pope served the church during his tenure which witnessed an increase in monasticism.
In a speech at Anba Beshoy monastery in Wadi el Natroun on Tuesday on the occasion of the third anniversary of Pope Shenouda's departure, Pope Tawadros said that the late Pope served the church for almost 50 years during which he offered great services.
The Pontiff said Pope Shenouda was interested in educational and theological services which were not restricted to Egypt but rather extended abroad.
