Pope Tawadros of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark met on Monday with relatives of Egyptian Copts taken as hostages in Libya last week.
He inquired after the conditions of the attendees and showed support for them in their ordeal, said a spokesman for the church.
Thirteen Copts were taken as hostages by gunmen in Sirte.
