Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese underlined that the Egyptian church appreciates the supporting stances of Bahrain towards Egypt during the tough times as well as establishing churches in the Arab country.
This remark came during receiving the Bahraini king on Wednesday.
The pope further said that relations between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Bahrain King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa are very good.
There are some Egyptians who have spent 30 years in Bahrain which has become their second homeland, he underscored.
The pontiff welcomed the monarch, stressing his pleasure to receive him and his accompanying delegation.
The church is in good terms with all sects of the society, the president, the government and Al Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb, the pope reiterated.
