Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar arrived at the Civil Aviation Authority HQ to follow up the latest developments of the Egyptian plane hijacked earlier Tuesday.

Civil Aviation Ministry Sherif Fathi formed an operations room to follow up the situation. 

Earlier in the day, the EgyptAir Airbus A320, carrying 56 passengers, seven crew members and a security guard on board, was hijacked early Tuesday and forced to land in Cyprus.

Flight MS181 passenger plane was originally travelling from Alexandra's Borg El Arab Airport to Cairo. 

Negotiations resulted in the release of all passengers, apart from five foreigners and seven crew members, EgyptAir said in a statement Tuesday.

Egyptian security agencies have managed to reveal the identity of the hijacker.

The Egyptian man, Ibrahim Samaha, was sitting on seat no. 38k.
