Public Prosecutor Hisham Barakat has ordered an investigation into the collapse of a sand barrier of the sediment basin that resulted in an overflow of water that covered the equipment used in digging the New Suez Canal.
The basin collapsed on Monday, but work on the project has been going on without stop.
The equipment has been recovered and no casualties have been reported as a result of the collapse.
