The threat al Qaeda poses to Libya is greater than that posed by Daesh group, representative of Libya to the United Nations Ibrahim Dabbashi said.
Events in the Libyan city of Darnah during the past weeks proved a conflict of interests between al Qaeda and Daesh, noting that the eastern port city was controlled by al Qaeda, Dabbashi said.
Daesh's presence is limited in Libya compared to al Qaeda, he added.
The United Nation Security Council convened on Wednesday to listen to United Nations peace envoy for Libya Bernardino Leon's briefing on dialogue between Libyan rivals.
