Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the release of a Qatari citizen and his Asian companion who were kidnapped in Iraq while on a hunting trip last December.

The Qatar News Agency, QNA, has quoted the ministry as saying in a statement that the efforts are still ongoing to free the rest of the 26 kidnapped persons, expressing hope that these efforts will be crowned with success.
