The State of Qatar has welcomed the appointment of Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed as a special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen.

In a statement today, the Foreign Ministry expressed Qatar's hope that the appointment will contribute to the process of launching a dialogue in Riyadh to lay out an executive mechanism for the national dialogue results and the UN Security Council related resolutions.

It wishes success to the UN envoy in his duties and efforts in maintaining the security and stability of Yemen, in a manner that responds to the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
