Security measures have been tightened in Qena governorate, south of Cairo, for Eastern Christmas celebrations, said Security Chief Hasan el Sohagy.
More security personnel have been deployed across the governorate to deter any acts of violence against Christian targets, he added.
Flying and fixed checkpoints were set up near over 60 churches within the governorate, he said.
