A regional workshop on developing policies for reducing child labor wrapped up its activities in Sharm el Sheikh on Saturday.

Organized by the Arab Labor Organization (ALO), the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND), and the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD), 40 participants from nine Arab countries (Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Palestine and Lebanon) took part in the two-day event.

The participants called on establishing comprehensive protective systems for children, including those working, through adopting mandatory measures aimed at introducing social protective policies and enacting legislation that provide services for children.

The workshop recommended boosting studies and research on child labor and making accurate statistics on its reasons and consequences.
