Egypt's Permanent Representative at the UN Amr Abul Atta asserted that Egypt is committed to supporting the UN peace-keeping operations.
Abul Atta asserted the importance of enabling the states participating in UN peace-keeping forces and police to be nominated for the election of the general assembly in October for non-permanent membership in the UN.
He welcomed the holding of the international forum on challenges to peacekeeping at the Egyptian mission in New York.
The forum will get acquainted with the actual role of UN peacekeeping forces on the ground and discusses proposals to face challenges to peacekeeping forces, a statement by the Foreign Ministry said Sunday.
