Port Said Criminal Court decided to adjourn until Monday the retrial of the defendants in the "Port Said stadium massacre" case.
The court adjourned the retrial to resume the defense pleadings.
Some 72 people were killed and 254 others wounded when Al Masry football fans attacked Al Ahly fans during a match in Port Said Stadium in February 2012.
The Court of Cassation accepted Feb. 6, 2014 two appeals; one was filed by the attorney general’s office against the acquittals, and the other was filed by the defendants’ lawyers.
Investigations revealed that the defendants attacked the victims immediately after the match using knives and stones, threw some of them from the stands, and packed them into a small exit path while firing fireworks at them with deadly intent.
