New Saudi King Salman bin Abdel Aziz and Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdel Aziz received pledges of allegiance from senior officials and citizens on Friday evening, after the death of King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz.
After pledging his allegiance, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al sheikh said all Saudis have to preserve stability in the kingdom.
The mufti added that pledging allegiance is based on the Holy Quran and the sayings and deeds of Prophet Mohammed.
Shortly after King Abdullah's passing, King Salman received the pledge of allegiance as the country's ruler from members of the royal family.
