Security beefed up in Alexandria

Police and army forces in Alexandria stepped up their presence in all squares and around vital institutions in Alexandria on the fifth anniversary of the January 25 Revolution, Alexandria Security Chief Nader Geneidy said on Monday.

He directed all security troops to deal firmly with any acts of lawlessness.

An operations' room was formed to receive any reports of riots or sabotage acts, he added.

Many surveillance cameras have been installed in all squares and main streets of the Mediterranean city to follow up the security situation, according to Geneidy.

Several fixed and mobile checkpoints were deployed on all highways to secure all entrances to and exits of Alexandria, he underlined.
