Luxor - MENA
Security measures have been beefed up in Luxor in anticipation of any protests by the Muslim Brotherhood group.
The MB had called for staging rallies nationwide on Friday as the first anniversary of the crackdown on protest camps in Rabaa el-Adaweya and Nahda squares is less than a week away.
The security forces are heavily deployed at exits of and entrances to the Upper Egyptian city, vital buildings and tourist attractions.
All streets leading to Luxor Police HQ have been closed to traffic.
In December, Egypt's government declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization, blaming it for a string of attacks in the country and banning all its activities nationwide.
