A state of calm is now prevailing in North Sinai province and no protests were reported, a top security official said.
The official added that police patrols roamed the streets and squares of the province to face calls by the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group to stage rallies nationwide.
After Friday prayers, citizens went back to their homes with no hassles, he added.
