Suez security director Magdy Abdel Aal said police forces and troops in charge of securing Suez Canal waterway carried out a wide-scale security campaign east of the canal and roads leading to Sinai.

In press statements Monday, he said a number of criminal fugitives were arrested, pointing out that the campaign aimed at closing all outlets used by terrorists. 

Abdel Aal said checkpoints had been erected and patrols were combing the area to achieve security.
