Cairo - Arab Today
Head of Libya's national consensus government Fayez al Seraj urged Arab countries to help Libya bolster its fight against terrorism by lifting an arms embargo and unfreezing funds that remain under UN sanctions.
Delivering a speech before the consultative meeting of the Arab League Council, which was held Sunday in the presence of AL chief Nabil el Araby, Seraj urged Arab delegations to pay a visit to Libya in the near future and open new aspects to put Libya again on the economic and political maps.
He also called for resuming direct aviation flights in order to send reassurance message.
He further reviewed the current conditions in Libya, adding that his government aims to preserve the country's unity and sovereignty.
The government is ready to confront Daesh terrorist group, he said, adding that full coordination is required among all Libyans.
"We will wage a war against terrorism under the name of Libya, the whole Libya," he affirmed.
Araby, for his part, underlined the pan-Arab body keenness on continuing coordination and consultation to support the Libyan national consensus government in a way which ensures restoring security and stability to Libya.
He also urged all Libyan political parties and NGOs to be united and give priority to the interest of the Libyan people.
The Libyan nation is besetting very serious challenges that do not affect Libya only but the whole neighboring countries, he added.
