MP el Sayyed Mahmoud el Sherif has been elected deputy speaker of parliament for five years.

Aly Abdel Aal, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, said that a runoff vote will be held between MPs Alaa Eddin Abdel Men'em and Seliman Wahdan to elect a second deputy speaker on Monday.

The parliament will convene today at 2.00 p.m.

Sunday's procedural session was the longest in the history of Egyptian parliaments. It lasted for more than 17 hours.
