Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry Saturday telephoned Adel al Jubair, his Saudi counterpart, to congratulate him on assuming the post.

Shoukry said he is looking forward to cooperating and consulting with Jubair to serve the best interests of both countries, spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Badr Abdel Aati said.

Shoukry also praised the role played by former Saudi foreign minister Prince Saud al Faisal for about 40 years, during which he was in charge of Saudi Arabia's international affairs, Abdel Aati added.
