The Egyptian Foreign Ministry received yesterday from the Health Ministry the results of the DNA samples of the missing pilgrims in Macca's Mina stampede, which took place on September 24, said Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Hisham el Nakib.
Upon receiving the results, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry issued directives about sending the results to the General Consulate in Jeddah to notify the Saudi authorities and facilitate measures to find missing pilgrims, he added.
Shoukry attaches great importance to provide all the necessary help to the families of the victims, he affirmed.
The tragedy of Mina stampede occurred when two large groups of pilgrims arrived together at a crossroads on their way to performing the symbolic stoning of the devil, the Saudi civil defense directorate said.
The Saudi government had placed the death toll at 769 during the stampede.
