Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Wednesday underlined the necessity of enhancing cooperation with Iraq to fight religious and sectarian bigotry and to combat terrorist organizations.
At a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Jaafari in Baghdad, the Egyptian top diplomat asserted that these terrorist groups have nothing to do with Islam and its tolerant teachings.
The meeting was attended by delegations of both countries.
For his part, the Iraqi foreign minister expressed appreciation for the Egyptian role supporting his country in fighting terrorism. He voiced hope for boosting cooperation in several fields, especially the economic and trade domains.
