Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh today underscored the importance of political development as a key pillar of the democratic process. He affirmed the need to enhance the awareness of society and ensure its participation in decision-making processes, being the cornerstone of the reform process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
He was speaking as he received HM the King's Advisor for Information Affairs, Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) board of Trustees' Chairman Nabeel Al-Hamer, who was accompanied by (BIPD) board member Dr. Ibrahim Al-Hashemi and executive director Dr. Yasser Al-Alawi. Al-Saleh stressed the need to upgrade legislations and laws so to engage citizens into participating in the political life, hailing the crucial role of the think tank in disseminating the culture of democracy
He affirmed the determination of the Shura Council to continue cooperating with the institute so as to develop political life in Bahrain, provide training programmes and legal and constitutional studies. HM the King's Advisor for Information Affairs, Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) board of Trustees' Chairman Nabeel Al-Hamer hailed constructive cooperation with the Shura Council, stressing the keenness of the Upper House to foster political culture and enhance the competence of its personnel.
