President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and entrusted him with a caretaker mission until a new Cabinet is formed.

Mahlab submitted a report on the performance of his government, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said.

Sisi praised efforts exerted by Mahlab and his ministers and the achievements made during this critical phase of Egypt's history, Youssef added.
