Egyptian parliament

Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted the importance of resuming Egypt's parliamentary activity at the regional and international levels.

The new Egypt believes in the crucial role played by the nation in the decision-making process and formulating the country's future, he added.

Sisi also congratulated the Egyptian nation and the MPs as Egypt's new parliament held its opening session on Sunday, said Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.

Sisi, meanwhile, wished success to the parliament in its mission and role in the Egyptian society, added the spokesman.

He also affirmed that the executive authority will support the parliament in its mission and duties, said the spokesman.

This is Egypt’s third parliament to be elected since the January 25 revolution in 2011 and marks the final stage of the June 30 road map to democracy which was implemented after the ouster of former President Mohammed Morsi in July 2013.
