President Abdel Fattah el Sisi chaired on Saturday a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
The meeting took up the latest developments in Sinai and measures taken by the army to restore security and stability in the region.
The president hailed during the meeting efforts exerted by the army in combating terrorist and criminal acts nationwide.
He asserted recent terrorist incidents will not undermine these efforts.
Steps taken to boost security on the western border of Egypt and conditions in Yemen were reviewed in the meeting.
The president said Egypt will not give up the Arab states in defending their interests.
He renewed that the security of the Gulf countries is part and parcel of Egypt's national security.
